Let's talk adventure vehicles...

You can’t have a beer with anyone in the American west these days without talking about adventure vehicles. Everyone’s talking about “build-outs” and “vanlife” and “overlanding,” fostering such exponential growth in the recreational vehicle industry that every manufacturer and build shop is a year out on work.

We’re open for business and would love to discuss your desires. The variety of options out there are endless. We believe we can save our clients money by thinking smart and using tools that do the work for us. We like building custom layouts that fit your needs and styling them to your liking. We’re not a factory, so if we take on your build, we’ll focus on it until it’s done.

What sets us apart?

Here are five things:

  1. We can build some really wild stuff, like pop-top ambulances.

  2. There’s no job too small or too large. (We’d love to build your modular, minimalist truck bed camper).

  3. Our background in mechanical engineering with a concentration in race car design allows us to get creative with weight savings and functionality, keeping your rig fuel-efficient and agile.

  4. We’re into styling that involves shopping the architectural salvage market for cool old fixtures.

  5. Our welding and CNC router capabilities make for a sturdy build.

  6. We utilize CAD and CNC machines, so precision is at the forefront of our builds.

Success Stories

"Johnny helped me find the exact truck that I wanted and fully tested the truck before purchase.

Then he helped me do the same with my slide-in camper. Both items were affordable and Johnny customized the vehicle and camper as I needed (including a full solar to battery set-up for off-grid travel). I couldn't be happier!"

Meet Johnny

I believe that vintage and enthusiast vehicles are in fact, complex artforms. When you get behind the wheel, you’re experiencing a cooperative masterpiece.

I created Rocky Mountain Retrofit to preserve and further these artforms for enjoyment in their natural habitat - The open roads and trails of wherever they take you - Whether that means restoring them or retrofitting them with more modern running gear.
